Don’t Starve: Hamlet expansion launches into Steam Early Access, full release in December 2018. [Updated]

Don’t Starve: Hamlet, the third expansion for survival game Don’t Starve, has released on Steam in Early Access. The expansion was first revealed back on 13th September, 2017 with an initial release target of Q1/Q2 2018. However, the release date was pushed back to December 2018, as revealed at the PC Gaming Show back in June. The expansion then had a closed beta phase for 14 days, beginning on the 15th October, 2018.

Don’t Starve: Hamlet currently costs £5.19/$6.99 (or your regional equivalent).

Don’t Starve: Hamlet’s Early Access phase will end on the 6th December, 2018. So those of you holding off for the full release will only have to wait for a month. Developers Klei Entertainment claim that more content, balance tweaks, and bug fixes will be introduced to the expansion during it’s Early Access phase.

Update: The full release of Don’t Starve: Hamlet has now been delayed to April 2019.

Celebrating the release with a weekend sale

To commemorate the release, developers Klei are having a weekend sale on Steam. It’s worth noting that you’re required to own the base game in order to have access to Hamlet. Conveniently, the base game Don’t Starve is part of the sale and is, enticingly, 75% off. It’s also worth noting that the game’s two previous expansions: Reign of Giants, and Shipwrecked are also on sale. Alternatively, the Don’t Starve Along Pack allows you to purchase the base game + all three expansions at a discounted price. The sale ends on the 12th November, 2018.

Whilst the sale is happening, I would be remiss not to recommend some of Klei’s other games. Of course, I have to recommend Mark of the Ninja, classic stealth game that recently got a remaster. I also highly recommend Invisible Inc., a brilliant stealth-oriented turn-based tactical game.

A brand new trailer for Don’t Starve: Hamlet has also been released. You can view the trailer below:
