The first gameplay footage for Doom Eternal has been revealed this weekend at QuakeCon 2018.
DOOM Eternal, the follow up to 2016’s DOOM, was first announced at Bethesda’s E3 press conference this year back in June. Developers id Software revealed more exciting details about DOOM Eternal, including the game’s first gameplay footage, during QuakeCon’s keynote this weekend. Creative Director Hugo Martin and Game Director Marty Stratton took to the stage to present the official gameplay reveal.
DOOM Eternal aims to make the Doom Slayer (the game’s protagonist) to most strongest and most powerful he’s ever been. The game aims to achieve this by featuring new tools and abilities, new weapons and new upgrades to existing weapons. The Meat Hook is one of the most notable weapon upgrades as it acts as a grappling hook. Twice as many enemies have been promised including updated favourites, reimagined classics and all-new designs.
Probably the most interesting new feature is the innovative way you can enjoy playing the game with your friends. Players will have the ability to take control of a demon and invade another players campaign! Multiple players can even team up as demons and form a “slayer hunting party”. Thankfully, players will have the option to choose whether to invade, be invaded or play the campaign solo. Hugo Martin mentioned that this is just one of the ways you can play the game with your friends. Implying that there are other multiplayer modes, although no more details regarding this were revealed.
The violent shooter will have a lot of environmental story telling and claims that exploring and investigating everything in the game’s universe will be “worth you time”.
No release date for DOOM Eternal was revealed but we’ll be keeping a keen eye out for one. The official gameplay reveal can be viewed below.
