All notable game releases for August 2019.

As we head into the tail end of the summer, August is exploding with game releases. Frankly, we’re just going to get right to it since there’s a lot of releases to get through. Here are all the notable game releases for August 2019. We’ll start with the highlights first:

Madden NFL 20

The latest instalment in the long-running Madden NFL series. The game will feature a new career mode which follows the journey of a player-created quarterback from College Football Playoff to NFL. The new game mode will feature ten licensed college teams.

Age of Wonders: Planetfall

PC, PS4, Xbox One | Triumph Studios | 6th August, 2019 | Link

The fifth instalment in the turn-based strategy series takes it into a sci-fi setting. The game will feature six different factions, procedurally generated maps, a skill tree that ultimately unlocks a weapon of mass destruction, and more. Rebel Galaxy Outlaw

PC | Double Damage Games | 13th August, 2019 | Link

Prequel to space fighting and trading game Rebel Galaxy. The game sets to expand on its predecessor by having a cockpit view, and you’ll be able to fly your ship up and down this time. Launching on PC as an Epic Game Store timed exclusive for 12 months. Coming to PS4 and Switch at a later time.

Double Fine’s latest title. 3D action rogue-like set in a world that’s faced Armageddon twice, which Double Fine calls a “post-post-apocalyptic world”. Players assume the role of a teenage protagonist as they venture into a radioactive wasteland in order to find a solution to heal the world.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey

PC | Panache Digital Games | 27th August | Link

Third-person survival game from Patrice Désilets, creator of the Assassins’s Creed series. Players control a member of an ape clan as they guide the clan through evolution to eventually become a new species. Launching on PC as an Epic Games Store Exclusive. Coming to PS4 and Xbox One later in the year.


PC, PS4, Xbox One | Remedy Entertainment | 27th August, 2019 | Link

Third-person action-adventure where players use supernatural abilities to defeat a reality-invading enemy known as Hiss. The PC version of the game will also be launching as a Epic Games Store exclusive.

Hunt: Showdown

PC, Xbox One | Crytek | 27th August, 2019 | Link

The latest title from Crytek (best known for the Crysis series), will fully release out of Steam Early Access, and Xbox Game Preview. A survival horror match-based game that mixes PvP and PvE elements. Play as part of a group of bounty hunters to seek and defeat nightmarish creatures. However, you’ll also need to watch your back as others are out to steal your prize.

World of Warcraft: Classic

PC | Blizzard Entertainment | 27th August, 2019 | Link

A recreation of the original MMORPG World of Warcraft. Players will get to relive World of Warcraft as it was before the release of any of its expansions. Something that a lot of long-time fans have been yearning for, but also an opportunity for newcomers to experience it for the first time.
