Rage 2, the long awaited sequel to 2011’s Rage is just around the corner, and is currently available for pre-order. With several different editions of Rage 2 available, as well as other buying options, it can become a little confusing. We’ve got you covered. This buying guide will help you understand everything there is to know about buying Rage 2.

Rage 2 is set to release on 14th May, 2019. The game is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Digital PC versions of the game are available on Steam, and Bethesda.net.

There are 3 different editions of the game: Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and Collector’s Edition.

Finally, if you pre-order any edition of Rage 2, you’ll receive some in-game bonus content.

Update: Now that Rage 2 has been released, we have some more details. The Steam version of the game uses Denuvo DRM. If you purchase the game on Steam, a Bethesda.net account is required to access the pre-order bonus content, and Deluxe Edition content, (it’s currently unclear whether future DLC will also require a Bethesda.net account). The game also has microtransactions (details below).

Update: The Steam version of the game no longer uses Denuvo.

Standard Edition

The Standard Edition includes the base game.

Deluxe Edition

The Deluxe Edition includes the base game, plus the following:

  • Rise of the Ghosts Expansion. (Available by 31st December, 2019)
  • Doom BFG
  • Wasteland Wizard Cheat Codes
  • Battle Standard
  • Progress Booster

Collector’s Edition

The Collector’s Edition is a physical package that includes everything in the Deluxe Edition, plus the following:

  • Ruckus The Crusher Talking Head
  • Steelbook
  • Collector’s Poster

For UK buyers, the Collector’s Edition is currently available through Game.

Pre-order Bonus

If you pre-order any version of Rage 2, you’ll receive the following in-game content:

  • Cult of the Death God Mission
  • Settler Pistol
  • Nicolas Raine Armor
  • Mutant Monster Truck Skin


The game has microtransactions which allow you to purchase RAGE Coins, an in-game currency.

UK pricing (on Steam) is as follows:

  • 500 RAGE Coins – £3.99
  • 1100 RAGE Coins – £7.99
  • 2500 RAGE Coins – £15.99
  • 4500 RAGE Coins – £27.99

RAGE Coins can be used to purchase “cosmetics, gear, and other new content”.
