The best movie & TV trailers from San Diego Comic Con 2018.

Comic Con has become a huge event that offers anything you could need; films, comics, games, cosplay and TV. The biggest convention is San Diego that takes place every year, showcasing the upcoming years of entertainment. I will be talking about San Diego Comic Con 2018 and what was shown for some of the movies and TV.

Aquaman – We get to see the DC’s origin of Aquaman, played by Jason Momoa, as he is split between the surface dwellers and his people of Atlantis as the throne is succumbed to Aquaman’s brother, Ocean Master played by Patrick Wilson along with follower Black Manta, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. A fight between the seas and the surface. With beautifully designed shots of Atlantis and the creatures of Atlantis, this film will be an amazing spectacle to watch. We can finally see the trident of Neptune deal some serious damage. An all-star cast which will be swimming into cinemas December 2018.

Shazam! – The hugely anticipated trailer since the Shazam logo has been released. The trailer looking like it has been taken straight from the comics, causing massive excitement. Following Billy Batson played by Asher Angle and Shazam played by Zachary Levi with a super powered cast. This film will have it all from humour to action and even a bit of family love following the story of Billy as he goes into a foster home but finds himself confronted by the Wizard Shazam and given the powers of the immortals Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury but hunted down by the previous Shazam gifted ancient Egyptian Black Adam (still awaiting to see the hyped villain Black Adam on screen). This movie I feel will be a huge DC win, zapping lightning into cinemas April 2019.

Glass – Following the huge M. Night Shyamalan blockbusters Unbreakable (2000) and Split (2016) joining together to make a realistic and different take on the superhero genre. We have Samuel Jackson reprising his role as Mr. Glass, the evil genius teaming up with the multiple personalities including ‘The Beast’ the super villain all played by James McAvoy taking on the unbreakable David Dunn with only one weakness played by Bruce Willis. Following the short Easter egg at the end of split with David Dunn was a huge relief as a majority wanted a follow up of Unbreakable from 18 years ago. This will be a superhero film like you haven’t seen before. If you haven’t seen the previous films it would be a good idea too! Set for an unbreakable release January 2019.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters – Since the Kong: Skull Island (2017) end credits teaser showed Godzilla fighting King Ghidorah, we have long awaited the second walk of the giant Godzilla again. Not only do we have King Ghidorah in the mix but we also have Mothra and Rodan. An epic battle between the MUTO/Kaiju/Titans with a titan cast with familiar faces from Godzilla (2014). This will be a film that will blow us away in gigantic proportions, I can’t wait to see the titans fight and hopefully we could see King Kong join the battle from Skull Island. Godzillas atomic breath will be lighting up the screens in May 2019.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald – Chapter two of the Fantastic Beasts Saga will continue as we follow Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as he joins together with young Professor Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) to take on the Sinister Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) as he tries to get all wizards to rule over all muggles. With previous characters reappearing from the first movie and new ones in the mix, this film will have new and more extravagant beasts to show as we can see from the trailer. This huge follow up from the first film will be spelled into cinemas in November 2018.

Dragon Ball Super: Broly – The twelfth film in all of Dragon Ball but the first of the super series will have the epic saiyans battle in an epic Japanese animation. We will see the legendary saiyan Broly take on Son Goku and Vegeta in the biggest battle yet with even more power before. In the trailer we see Lord Beerus and Frieza, and we might be seeing the history of the Saiyans. We will see Goku and Vegeta transform to Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan to try to defeat Broly but will it be enough as he can learn every second of the battle to become more powerful? Broly will be powering up the screens in January 2019.

Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus – A film based on the cartoon TV show from 2001 where Zim and GIR are sent to Earth to prepare for its invasion and study the humans whilst battling his nemesis Dib. However the film sets the scene as Zim finds out that his almighty leader’s never intended to invade Earth and causes Zim to lose his only mission where Dib takes advantage of the situation. We can once again see the hysterical series back in action and GIR in his cute dog disguise. Enter The Florpus will be a classic comedy hit that will be invading screens hopefully in 2019.

Overlord – J.J. Abrams new movie seems to pack a punch as WWII allies are shot out of an aeroplane and forced to parachute down. The small group find a small Nazi base that turns out to be a experimentation lab to create soldiers that can last thousands of years. With body mutations, gory violence and a mysterious room I’m sure J.J. Abrams will have us all on the edge of our seats as he has done plenty of times before. With a huge cast including Bokeem Woodbine, Wyatt Russell and Pilou Asbæk to name a few, this film will fulfil all your gore needs, however this has been stated by Abrams that this is defiantly not a Cloverfield film. Overlord will be reanimating the cinema in November 2018.

Assassination Nation – This film shows the outcome of the town of Salem and what happens when hackers begin to share everyone’s privacy and how it can cause bloody mayhem. As privacy becomes public to all it causes chaos within the town and Lily (Odessa Young) has to try to survive the night with her three friends. Huge cast including Bill Skarsgård, Bella Thorne and Joel McHale will be beating the living hell out of the Salem townsfolk and the mysterious hacker (hopefully) in September 2018.

Star Wars the Clone Wars – From being cancelled in 2013, the magnificent show following Anakin, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan is back following on from where it left off on season 6.

Better Call Saul – The ongoing series and the spin-off of Breaking Bad, the cast panel of Better Call Saul showed a teaser trailer for Season 4.

Star Trek: Discovery – Set before the events of Star Trek TOS following the crew and events of the USS Enterprise in Season 2, showing the first appearance of Christopher Pike and maybe a tease of Spock which will be huge!

The Walking Dead – The season 9 trailer of The Walking Dead showed some dark, gory and sad times for the gang which wouldn’t be new and also the panel discussing the departure of Rick Grimes.

Fear The Walking Dead – Season 4 trailer showing signs of how it links in with The Walking Dead with Morgan being a main character appearing in the trailer.

Disenchantment – From the creators of Futurama and The Simpsons comes the new series set in a fictional medieval kingdom with an alcoholic princess leaving her wedding with two companions being an elf and her personal demon on their adventure to find themselves.

Dr Who – Season 11 of Doctor Who shows the newest doctor in the collection and being a great change being a female Doctor with her all new sonic screwdriver.

The Orville – Seth MacFarlane’s comedy spoof of Star Trek, season 2 answering some of the unanswered questions from the first season and showing some of the new characters and creatures they will encounter but still having the relationship problems between the captain and his first mate…. or ex-wife.

Preacher – Season 3 of Preacher showing some of the extreme representations of religion, showing some devils, gods and fight scenes that we still need. Preacher season 3 will be bigger, better and funnier than previous seasons depending on how much you care about religion bearing in mind its based off a comic.

Iron Fist – Iron Fist season 2 trailer has been dropped following the events of season 1 and the Defenders, with a cool fight scene from an awesome angle. Hoping for a join forces with Luke Cage for Heroes For Hire.

The Gifted – Season 1 finale left us on edge for more of the mutant underground and seems we will have something to keep our mutant needs at rest. We can see some new mutants of the plot unfolding and the problems they will encounter.

Arrow – Season 7 trailer shows us some interesting encounters that Oliver will have while in prison, some of the plot that will be unfolding and Roy is coming back!

Black Lighting – Following the Netflix season 1 series we can see how Black Lightning is getting more control of the streets and how his family life can affect being a superhero. Season 2 will be more electric than ever.

DC’s Titans – The trailer showing us how dark DC can be with the new look on the Teen Titans and a revamp of our heroes having a march darker and bloodier side to them, looks like robin will be saying “f*** you Batman!” more and Raven will be the hero in need of help.

DC Legends of Tomorrow – Our time travelling legends are back for season 4 following the sacrifice of Rip Hunter and now finding the demons of John Constantine, with some alterations to the team along the way.

The Flash – Season 5 of Flash looks to be a good season as Nora is introduced to the team as she is Barry and Iris’ daughter from the future and the future does not seem to go good for anyone. Also Barry finally gets his uniform ring!

Supergirl – Season 4 of Supergirl is off to a powerful trailer showing off some devastation with a new villain trying to kill all the super powered heroes. Also Supergirl has a cool new look for her costume, looks like they took some inspiration from Injustice 2.

Young Justice Outsiders – I was so sad when Young Justice was cancelled in 2013 and now I am as happy as ever when I saw the trailer showing they’re back and picks up years in the future with new members on the team and the villains Vandal Savage the immortal teaming up with the colossal Darkside.

Krypton – Season 2 of Krypton will be smashing your TV’s as three villains are coming to pass, the infamous General Zod, the genius Braniac and the end of days Doomsday, Superman will have a lot on his plate if he can survive.
